2024-2025: Career Guidance

The B.Ed Orientation Programme was conducted on 24th March 2025 at the T. Thomas Auditorium to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Bachelor of Education programme and its career scope. The session was facilitated by Ms. J. Jasmine, Assistant Professor, St. Christopher’s College of Education, who shared her expertise in teacher training, curriculum design, and educational career pathways.

The programme included an overview of the B.Ed structure, core subjects, skill development areas, practicum, and internships. Ms. Jasmine highlighted the career opportunities in teaching across government and private institutions, as well as prospects for higher education and alternate career paths. She also discussed the challenges and rewards of teaching, emphasizing classroom management and professional growth.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students clarified queries about admissions, eligibility, and career opportunities in the education field. The orientation offered students a roadmap for pursuing a teaching career and inspired them to excel in the profession.

The Overseas Education Orientation Programme was conducted on 4th March 2025 to provide students with insights into international education, application procedures, and career opportunities abroad. The session was facilitated by Mr. Aswin Suresh, Regional Ambassador of India for Vilnius University, Lithuania.

Mr. Aswin introduced students to Vilnius University’s history, global ranking, academic programs, and scholarship opportunities. He highlighted the advantages of studying in Lithuania, including its student-friendly culture, practical learning approach, and international career prospects.

The session also addressed essential aspects of overseas education such as application processes, visa requirements, financial planning, part-time work opportunities, and differences in career outcomes between India and Europe. Students actively engaged in discussions and clarified their queries during the Q&A session. The programme served as an eye-opener, motivating students to explore higher education opportunities abroad and providing a clear roadmap for pursuing international education.

Objective

To create awareness among students about international higher education opportunities, application procedures, and career prospects abroad.

Outcome

Students gained clarity on studying overseas, understood the academic and career advantages of Lithuanian and European education, and felt motivated to pursue global academic opportunities.

The Montessori Teachers Training Programme was organized on 4th February 2025 by the Career Guidance Cell at CTTE College for Women to introduce students to the principles and practices of Montessori education. The session was attended by 87 students from various disciplines.

The programme was facilitated by Mrs. Rita Ramesh, Founder and Director of Global Gateway, and a pioneer in Montessori education with over three decades of experience. She explained the core principles of Montessori education, including self-directed learning, hands-on activity, and collaborative play. She emphasized the role of teachers in fostering independence, creativity, and confidence in young learners.

The session featured a practical demonstration of Montessori teaching materials, showcasing their classroom applications. Through an interactive discussion, students gained valuable insights into child psychology, classroom management, curriculum development, and special education. The programme concluded with a Q&A session, where participants clarified doubts and received career guidance on opportunities in Montessori schools and international education.

Objective

To provide students with practical exposure to Montessori education, its principles, and career opportunities in early childhood teaching.

Outcome

Students gained hands-on knowledge of Montessori teaching methods, understood the role of a Montessori educator, and received guidance on career paths in early childhood and international education.

செவாலியர் டி. தாமஸ் எலிசபெத் மகளிர் கல்லூரியின் தமிழ்த் துறை சார்பில், “தமிழர் வானியல் சிந்தனைகள்” என்ற தலைப்பில் உரையரங்கம் 29 ஜனவரி 2025 அன்று டி. தாமஸ் கலையரங்கத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. சிறப்புவிருந்தினராக திரு. கா. பாலகிருஷ்ணன் (பாலாபாரதி) அவர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு உரையாற்றினார். அவர் தனது உரையில், தமிழர் பண்டைய காலந்தொட்டு வானியல் அறிவியலில் சிறந்து விளங்கியமைக்கான சான்றுகளை சங்கப் பாடல்கள், பாறை ஓவியங்கள், பண்பாட்டு மூலங்கள் வழியாக எளிமையாக விளக்கினார்.

மேலும், உடுக்கணங்கள் (constellations), காலக்கணக்கீடு போன்ற விஷயங்களையும் விரிவாக எடுத்துரைத்தார். இரண்டாம் ஆண்டு மாணவியருக்கான “தமிழர் வானியல் சிந்தனைகள்” பாடத்திட்டத்துடன் நிகழ்ச்சி தொடர்புபட்டிருந்தது சிறப்புக்குரியது.

முன்னதாக, தமிழ்த் துறைத் தலைவர் முனைவர் க. ப்ரீத்தா அவர்கள் சிறப்புவிருந்தினருக்கு நினைவுப்பரிசு வழங்கி பாராட்டினார். அருணா எலிஸ் (II BCA) வரவேற்புரையையும், விதன்யா நன்றியுரையையும் வழங்கினர். நிகழ்ச்சியை க. அபினயா தொகுத்து வழங்கினார். சுமார் 450 மாணவியர் பங்கேற்று பயனடைந்ததோடு தங்களுடைய கேள்விகளையும் முன்வைத்து தெளிவுபெற்றனர்.

சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக திரு. கார்த்திக் கண்ணன் அவர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு தனது அனுபவங்களை பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார். அவர் சமூக வலைதளங்களில் தமிழின் துணையுடன் தொழிலைத் தொடங்கி வெற்றி பெறலாம் என்பதை வலியுறுத்தினார். மேலும், இன்றைய வேலை வாய்ப்பு சூழலில் மாணவர்கள் தங்களை மாற்றிக் கொள்ள வேண்டிய அவசியத்தை வலியுறுத்தினார்.

The Career Guidance Cell of CTTE College for Women organized a two-day Orientation Programme on Internationally Valid Certificate Courses on 19th and 20th December 2024 at the NT1 classroom. The programme was designed for students who had earlier participated in the Career Enhancement Workshop.

The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Hemachandran Venkatarajan and Mr. Praveen Ellath, experienced trainers with extensive expertise in industry and education. The orientation began with an introduction to employability skills, highlighting their importance in today’s competitive job market. Students were guided on how to access the Wadhwani platform and utilize it for learning the 13 key skills required for career readiness.

The programme focused on bridging academic learning with industry expectations, providing students exposure to certifications recognized globally. This initiative helped students understand the value of internationally valid courses in enhancing their career prospects.

To equip students with industry-relevant employability skills and provide access to globally recognized certifications that enhance career opportunities.

The Department of Business Administration organized a seminar titled “Path to Professionalism” on 13th December 2024 at 12:00 PM. The session was conducted by experts from Avidus Academy of Management, Nungambakkam – Mr. S. Alex Melwyn, Head of Training, and Mr. Kieren M. F., Senior Training Executive. The programme provided students with valuable insights into professional development, emphasizing career growth, industry expectations, and the skills required to succeed in today’s competitive job market. The speakers engaged participants in interactive discussions, offering strategies for career planning, leadership development, and adapting to workplace challenges.

The Department of Business Administration, in collaboration with Don Bosco Vazhikaati, organized a seminar titled “A Career Guidance Session on Job and Workplace Readiness” on 11th December 2024 at 12:00 PM. The session was led by Ms. Jenifer A, a distinguished Soft Skill and Communicative Trainer from Don Bosco Vazhikaati.

The programme aimed to equip students with essential workplace skills, helping them transition into the professional world with confidence. Ms. Jenifer provided valuable insights on workplace expectations, communication strategies, professional behavior, teamwork, and career-building techniques, ensuring that students were better prepared to face job interviews and adapt to corporate environments.

The Department of Business Administration, in collaboration with Prime Educators, successfully organized a Career Guidance Session on TANCET for final year students on 27th September 2024. The session was facilitated by Mr. Prithvin Rajendran, MD of Prime Educators, Chennai, who provided valuable insights into the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) and its significance for postgraduate education and career advancement.

The session emphasized aligning students’ career aspirations with opportunities available through TANCET. It also highlighted the importance of quantitative ability, data sufficiency, reading comprehension, and analytical reasoning, which are crucial components of the exam. Students were guided on effective preparation strategies and ways to improve their performance.

Objectives

1. To help students identify their career aspirations and align them with opportunities through TANCET.
   
2. To inform students about MBA, MCA, M.E./M.Tech., M.Arch., and M.Plan programs available via TANCET and the career prospects associated with them.

The Postgraduate Department of Commerce, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, organized a Career Guidance Programme on the topic “Tools Used in Data Science” on 18th September 2024. The session was conducted in offline mode with the participation of 72 UG and PG students.

The Resource Persons, Ms. Banurekha Viswanthan and Mr. Pandian Chidambaram from Step Solutions, shared their expertise on the rapidly growing field of data science. The session focused on introducing students to the key tools, software, and programming languages that form the backbone of data science practices.

Mr. Pandian Chidambaram emphasized the importance of mastering tools such as Python, R, SQL, VBA, and Tableau for effective data analysis, visualization, and modeling. He highlighted how proficiency in these tools enhances career prospects across industries and equips students with the technical knowledge required for data-driven roles.

The Postgraduate Department of Commerce, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, organized a Career Guidance Programme on the topic “How to Crack Your First Interview” on 29th August 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in offline mode. The programme witnessed the active participation of 132 undergraduate students.

The Resource Persons, Ms. Lakshmi S. and Ms. Rithika M., MBA students from ISSM B-School, engaged the participants through an interactive session. They provided practical insights into the interview process, covering key aspects such as resume preparation, technical interviews, HR rounds, aptitude tests, and group discussions.

The speakers also shared valuable do’s and don’ts, introduced useful apps and online platforms, and emphasized the importance of continuous skill development for career success. The session further highlighted personal growth, interpersonal effectiveness, and communication skills as vital components for employability.

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, organized a Career Development Programme on 27th August 2024 at 1:00 PM in the JJK Auditorium. Conducted in offline mode, the programme saw the enthusiastic participation of I, II, and III year students of B.Com (General), B.Com (Accounting & Finance), B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship), and BBA.

The session aimed to enhance students’ career readiness by encouraging continuous learning, skill development, and clarity in career aspirations. It also provided opportunities for students to connect with professionals, gain exposure to diverse career paths, and understand industry expectations. The programme helped participants strengthen their career decision-making abilities and build meaningful professional networks, preparing them to face future career challenges with confidence.

The Department of Accounting and Finance, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, organized an Interview Preparation Seminar titled “How to Crack Your First Interview” on 19th August 2024 at 10:00 AM in the JJK Auditorium. The session was conducted in offline mode and facilitated by Ms. Geetha Priya M., Alumna, ISSM B School.

The seminar aimed to provide students with essential strategies and practical insights to successfully navigate their first job interviews. Ms. Geetha Priya emphasized the importance of self-presentation, effective communication skills, and understanding the job role before attending an interview. She also shared techniques for answering common interview questions with clarity and confidence.

The workshop adopted an interactive format, where students actively participated in mock interviews and received constructive feedback. This hands-on approach enabled participants to identify their strengths, recognize areas for improvement, and build confidence in facing real-world interview scenarios.

The session concluded with a Q&A segment, allowing students to clarify their doubts and receive personalized guidance from the resource person. The programme was well-received, and students left the session with enhanced knowledge, confidence, and readiness to approach their first interviews successfully.

The orientation programme for the Front Office Associate (FOA) course by Tata STRIVE was held on 30th July 2024 in the Seminar Hall, CTTE College for Women. The session was facilitated by Mr. Chandrasekhar and Mr. Ramkumar.

Tata STRIVE, a skill development initiative of Tata Community Initiatives Trust, offers the FOA course designed to train students in front office operations within the hospitality industry. The course includes 7 weeks of classroom training followed by 4 weeks of on-the-job training, covering key skills such as reservations, guest registration, check-in/check-out procedures, and effective customer communication.

During the session, parents and students were introduced to the course structure, certification, and job placement opportunities available through Tata STRIVE’s industry partnerships. A parent–teacher review meeting was also announced to monitor student progress during the course. The programme concluded with a Q&A session, where participants clarified their queries.

Objective

To familiarize students and parents with the Front Office Associate course, its structure, and career opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Outcome

Students and parents gained clarity about the FOA course, including its training modules, certification, and placement opportunities, helping them make informed career decisions.

The orientation programme for Tata Strive – BFSI course was conducted on 29th July 2024 at the T. Thomas Auditorium, CTTE College for Women. The facilitators introduced themselves and explained the vision of Tata Strive. They detailed the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) course, its duration, curriculum, and training methodology.

Students and parents were briefed about uniform requirements, provision of ID cards, and placement support offered by Tata Strive. The facilitators assured students of quality training and assured placements in reputed companies. They also shared success stories and feedback from previous trainees who secured jobs through the programme. The session concluded with a Q&A segment, allowing parents to clarify their queries about the training and placement process.

To orient students and parents about the Tata Strive BFSI course, its training curriculum, and placement opportunities in the banking and financial sector.

Students and parents gained clarity on the structure of the BFSI programme, the training process, and the placement support provided by Tata Strive, boosting confidence in pursuing the course.

The Postgraduate Department of English, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, organized a Career Guidance Programme under the Alumni Interactions Series on 25th July 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Seminar Hall. The session followed an experiential learning methodology and saw the enthusiastic participation of 70 UG and PG English students.

The Resource Person, Mrs. Amrita Sharon Joe, Founder & Senior Trainer at JJ Academy and proud alumna of the department, engaged the students with her dynamic presentation. She opened the session with the question, “What is your passion?”, sparking an interactive discussion. Mrs. Amrita highlighted that English studies extend beyond teaching, offering wide-ranging career opportunities in areas such as training, content development, and international examinations.

A major focus of the session was on language proficiency exams such as IELTS, where the resource person explained their structure, procedures, and significance in building global careers. She emphasized the importance of early preparation with the advice: “Start working right now.”

The Career Guidance Cell of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women organized a Career Guidance Programme on Higher Education Opportunities in the Government Sector on 25th July 2024 at the JJK Auditorium from 1:30 to 2:30 PM. The session was conducted in offline mode through hands-on demonstration and witnessed the participation of around 294 students from various streams.

The Resource Person, Mr. Prithvin Rajendran, Managing Director of Prime Educators, Chennai, delivered an engaging session on higher education opportunities available to students after their undergraduate degree. He highlighted the competitive entrance exams such as CAT, MAT, XAT, NAP, and JAM, explaining their structure, preparation strategies, and relevance in shaping academic and professional growth. The session motivated students to explore diverse opportunities in the government sector and guided them to prepare effectively for future academic pursuits.

To create awareness among students about higher education opportunities in the government sector and guide them on competitive entrance exams and preparation strategies.

Students gained clarity on the scope of higher education in the government sector and understood the requirements of various competitive exams, motivating them to prepare for advanced academic and professional opportunities.

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, organized a Career Guidance Programme on 19th July 2024 at the JJK Auditorium. The session, conducted through participative learning, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 222 students from all commerce streams.

The Resource Person, Ms. Divya Bharathi, engaged students with insightful counselling, emphasizing the importance of informed career planning and preparation for competitive opportunities. The programme also provided practical inputs on developing skills essential for success in competitive examinations and interviews, thereby equipping students with tools to navigate their career trajectories with confidence.

Objectives

1. To provide personalized counselling and coaching for students to overcome career-related challenges and empower them to make decisions about their future aspirations.

The Career Guidance Cell, in association with the Placement Cell of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, organized a Career Guidance Programme on Smart Hiring Process on 19th July 2024 at the JJK Auditorium. The session was conducted by Ms. Hemavathy C., Content Manager and Digital Marketing Lead, CTTE College for Women, and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 426 final-year students.

The programme emphasized the growing importance of efficient hiring strategies in today’s competitive job market, where top companies like TCS, Infosys, and Accenture are constantly innovating to attract the best talent. The session highlighted how smart hiring integrates technology, data analytics, and innovative recruitment strategies to create fair and effective hiring processes.

Special attention was given to Accenture’s Smart Hiring Programme, which invited applications from final-year students (Batch 2024–25). The resource person explained the technical knowledge required, step-by-step registration processes, and the documents necessary for successful applications.

Students were also provided with hands-on training on using online tools such as Canva and other platforms for preparing CVs, editing images, and customizing documents—skills that are increasingly valuable in digital hiring environments.
