The LinkedIn Profile Building Workshop was held on 21 December 2024 in an offline mode, with a duration of five hours. A total of 600 students participated, making it a highly engaging skill-development event. The session followed an interactive methodology, encouraging students to participate actively and apply the concepts during the workshop. The resource persons were Mr. Muthukumar Murugan and Mr. Vigneshwar Sridharan, experienced trainers in LinkedIn profile development.
The objective of the workshop was to guide students in creating and optimizing their LinkedIn profiles to present their skills, achievements, and career aspirations effectively. The trainers highlighted the importance of a strong digital presence and provided step-by-step guidance on writing impactful profile headlines, summaries, and experience sections. Students worked on refining their profiles during the session and received practical suggestions.
Participants were introduced to key features of LinkedIn Premium. The trainers explained how students can use InMail to contact recruiters, view profile insights to see who has visited their profile, access LinkedIn Learning to build new skills, and review detailed analytics related to job applications. Demonstrations helped students understand the value of these features in career development.
The workshop helped students gain confidence in presenting themselves professionally on LinkedIn. It provided useful insights into building a strong online identity and using professional networking tools to support their career goals. The session encouraged students to take an active role in planning their professional journey and exploring opportunities for growth.
The Centre for Student Development (Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Institution’s Innovation Council), in association with the Department of Accounting and Finance, organised a workshop titled Entrepreneurship and Innovation as a Career Opportunity on 19 December 2024 at the T. Thomas Auditorium. Conducted at 12:30 p.m., the workshop aimed to educate students on the significance of entrepreneurship and innovation, emphasising their potential as viable and fulfilling career options. A total of 75 students participated in the session.
The workshop was facilitated by Ms Jenita Rani S. H., an alumna of the Department of Accounting and Finance and an accomplished Forex Trader, Portfolio Manager, and Founder of RAFT Academy. Drawing upon her professional experience, she shared her entrepreneurial journey and provided valuable insights into the dynamic nature of innovation-led careers.
Ms Jenita underscored the importance of creativity, innovation, and calculated risk-taking in the entrepreneurial process. She discussed effective strategies for establishing a career in this field and illustrated her points with real-life examples, enabling students to understand how opportunities can be identified and transformed into successful ventures. Her presentation encouraged students to develop an entrepreneurial mind-set grounded in resilience and strategic thinking.
The workshop concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which students actively engaged with the resource person, seeking clarification and personalised guidance. The event proved both inspiring and informative, motivating participants to explore entrepreneurship as a promising career path while deepening their understanding of innovation-driven opportunities.
The Department of Business Administration, in collaboration with the Centre for Student Development, organised a Glass Painting Workshop on 30 August 2024 at 1.30 p.m. The workshop was conducted in offline mode and adopted an experiential learning methodology. A total of 33 students participated in the programme.
The session was facilitated by Mrs N. Shyamala Devi, Specialist (Head Tutor, Chennai), Fevicryl. She provided systematic instruction on the fundamentals of glass painting and guided participants through a range of techniques relevant to contemporary decorative art and craft practices. The workshop promoted creative expression while fostering skill development with potential entrepreneurial relevance.
The objectives of the workshop included familiarising students with diverse glass painting techniques such as stained glass, reverse glass painting, brushwork, blending methods, and freehand designs. The programme introduced appropriate tools and materials used in glass painting, encouraged creative self-expression, and ensured that each participant completed at least one glass painting during the session. Students were also provided with insights into opportunities for commercialising glass paintings through exhibitions, online platforms, and small-scale entrepreneurial ventures.
The hands-on nature of the workshop enabled students to actively engage in the creative process under expert guidance. This practical approach facilitated the effective application of techniques and enhanced participants’ confidence in handling materials and tools.
Students demonstrated improved artistic skills and a clearer understanding of glass painting techniques. The programme contributed to the development of creative and technical competencies and enhanced awareness of art-based entrepreneurial opportunities, supporting holistic student development.
The AI Expo for School was conducted on 30th July 2024 in an offline mode, creating an interactive and engaging learning environment. The event lasted for four hours and brought together around 150 students from different classes. Although there was no external resource person, the expo was organized effectively by the school faculty and student volunteers.
The main objective of the event was to celebrate AI Appreciation Day by showcasing innovative Artificial Intelligence technologies and explaining their impact on industries and everyday life. Various stalls, models, demonstrations, and interactive displays were arranged to help students understand the importance and use of AI in fields such as healthcare, education, robotics, communication, and entertainment.
Students took part in hands-on activities, explored AI tools, and interacted with different demonstration modules. The interactive approach helped them clearly understand the role of AI in modern society and encouraged them to think creatively about future possibilities.
The event successfully achieved its purpose by informing and inspiring students about recent AI advancements and innovations. The expo helped students develop curiosity, interest in technology, and a deeper appreciation for the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence.
The Alumna Interactions Session II – Students’ Workshop on “Mastering the Art of Lesson Planning and Designing Innovative Teaching Aids” was conducted on 29 July 2024 in offline mode. Organised for the III B.A. English students under the guidance of Ms J. Jaya Parveen, the workshop recorded the participation of 31 students and followed a lecture-and-interaction methodology.
The workshop was designed to acquaint students with contemporary teaching methodologies employed in primary education and to motivate them to consider careers in the field of teaching. By featuring alumnae of CTTE College for Women who have established themselves as teachers, the event sought to provide authentic insights into the pedagogical landscape and the professional journey associated with the teaching profession.
The resource persons for the session, Ms Shamalina and Ms Praisia Joice, both alumnae of the Department of English and currently teachers at St Moses Higher Secondary School, delivered presentations and engaged in an interactive dialogue with the participants. The session commenced with an informative presentation on the significance of pursuing a B.Ed. degree following undergraduate or postgraduate studies. This was followed by a detailed discussion on the importance of effective lesson planning in creating structured and learner-centred classroom environments.
The alumnae further introduced students to a variety of teaching methods and innovative teaching aids used in primary-level instruction, particularly in the teaching of English and Mathematics. Their demonstrations and explanations, drawn from their own classroom experiences, enabled the students to appreciate the practical application of these methods and materials.
The workshop was particularly valuable for the III B.A. English students currently undertaking an In-House Internship, as it deepened their understanding of pedagogical practices and the challenges inherent in the teaching profession. The session achieved its objectives by equipping students with relevant knowledge, enhancing their pedagogical awareness, and encouraging them to view teaching as a viable and rewarding career path.
The AI Appreciation Day EXPO was successfully conducted on 16th July 2024 as a five-hour offline event, bringing together a diverse group of 300 participants. The event was designed as an interactive presentation-based exhibition, allowing attendees to engage directly with emerging artificial intelligence technologies and their practical applications. Although no external resource persons were invited, the event utilized dynamic demonstrations and hands-on interactions to create an immersive learning environment.
The primary objective of the EXPO was to showcase groundbreaking AI technologies and highlight their growing influence across multiple industries as well as everyday life. Various thematic displays and interactive segments helped illuminate how AI continues to transform fields such as healthcare, education, business analytics, automation, and creative industries. Participants were encouraged to explore, question, and closely experience real-time AI tools and innovations.
The outcome of the event was highly positive. The EXPO succeeded in inspiring and informing attendees, deepening their understanding of current AI advancements and fostering curiosity about future innovations. Participants expressed increased awareness of AI’s potential to shape modern society, as well as enthusiasm for integrating such technologies in their academic, professional, and personal spheres.
The event served as a meaningful platform for celebrating technological progress while empowering participants with insights into the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence.
A two-day Workshop on Canva was held on 4th and 5th July 2024 in offline mode. The workshop was organised to help participants learn the basics of digital design and to guide them in creating posters, presentations, and social media graphics. A total of 125 participants attended the programme. The resource person, Mrs J. Vijayalakshmi, explained the features of Canva through clear demonstrations and shared practical design tips.
The session followed a knowledge-sharing approach, allowing participants to understand the tools and functions of Canva step by step. After the demonstration, a hands-on activity was conducted where participants created their own designs using the platform. This activity helped them gain practical experience and apply what they had learnt.
The workshop achieved its purpose by enabling participants to develop useful design skills and create their own graphics confidently.
