CTTE Library Book Launch: Story of the Storey

Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women hosted an intellectually engaging literary event to celebrate the re-launch of Story of the Storey, a debut novel by the educator and content creator Ms. K. B. Janaki. The programme, held as part of the CTTE Library: Gyan Khoj initiative, created a vibrant platform for students, faculty, and invited guests to reflect on the power of storytelling, the intersections of lived experience and literature, and the importance of cultivating literary curiosity within academic spaces.

The event commenced with an atmosphere of scholarly warmth and anticipation, followed by a welcome address by the Librarian, who emphasized the role of the library in shaping critical thought and dialogue. The focus of the gathering was Story of the Storey, a narrative rich in atmosphere and speculative imagination, where “walls whisper secrets and the past lingers in every corner.” Through her reflections, the author shared how personal struggles shaped her creative journey, underscoring the transformative power of resilience and self-discovery.

The programme was graced by Dr. B. Amudha, Scientist-F and Head of the Regional Meteorological Centre, India Meteorological Department, who served as the Chief Guest. In her address, she urged students to engage sincerely with both knowledge and creativity, linking the disciplines of science and literature through their shared reliance on curiosity, observation, and clarity. She also highlighted the social responsibility of young scholars to integrate knowledge with meaningful expression.

Adding to the richness of the session, Ms. S. Megavarshini (B.Sc. Psychology), with the support of library interns, presented a thoughtful review of the book. Her analysis highlighted the novel’s emotional resonance and thematic depth, drawing connections between the text and broader questions of memory, identity, and human experience. This was followed by a lively interactive session where students posed insightful questions to the author. Selected participants were gifted copies of the book, reinforcing the culture of reading and inquiry fostered by the college.

The highlight of the programme was the author’s own reflections, as Ms. Janaki spoke about her inspirations, the challenges of her creative process, and her hopes for how Story of the Storey would resonate with readers. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to CTTE College for hosting the event and for recognizing literature as a vital part of holistic education.

The book re-launch of Story of the Storey was a resounding success, leaving participants with renewed inspiration to read, reflect, and engage with literature critically. The event reaffirmed the CTTE Library’s mission of being more than a repository of books—a living space for dialogue, creativity, and lifelong learning. It also reflected the College’s commitment to promoting Knowledge, Skills, and Quality while strengthening the literary and cultural fabric of its academic community.
