CTTE College Empowers Minds: Breaking Stigma and Building Resilience through Therapy

The Department of Psychology organised a Mental Well-Being Workshop titled “Therapy is a Tool: Breaking Stigma, Building Resilience” on 7th October 2025 at the JJK Auditorium. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ understanding of mental health, foster emotional resilience, and encourage open discussion on psychological well-being.

Dr G. Sangeetha, Director of Psychological Services, Dhruti Trust, facilitated the session using an interactive and experiential approach. She engaged participants through lectures, case-based discussions, and reflective exercises. Drawing on real-life examples, she emphasised that therapy should be viewed not merely as a response to crisis but as a proactive and empowering means of self-awareness, growth, and emotional regulation.

She also addressed common misconceptions surrounding therapy and highlighted the importance of empathy, communication, and self-care in maintaining psychological balance. The workshop encouraged participants to challenge social stigma and cultivate a positive attitude towards seeking help when necessary. Students participated enthusiastically, sharing reflections and exploring the role of resilience in managing life’s challenges.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which students clarified doubts about therapy, confidentiality, and stress management. Their active engagement reflected an increased awareness of, and receptivity towards, mental health care.

Workshop on Goods and Services Tax (GST)

September 02, 2025 | The Postgraduate Department of Commerce

report

The Postgraduate Department of Commerce organised a capacity-building workshop on Goods and Services Tax (GST) for students of B.Com (General) on 2 September 2025. The session was facilitated by Mr CA Balamurugan, Proprietor, Balamurugan & Co., Chartered Accountants, and Ms Deepa Kannan, Audit Assistant.

The workshop commenced with an insightful exposition by Mr Balamurugan on the evolution, objectives, and structural reforms introduced through GST in India. Emphasising its unifying framework, he contextualised GST as a transformative shift from a fragmented indirect taxation system to a consolidated, transparent, and business-oriented regime. His address delineated the legal, economic, and procedural dimensions of GST, offering students a comprehensive understanding of its practical relevance in contemporary financial administration.

A key component of the workshop was the hands-on training in GST registration. Mr Balamurugan meticulously guided participants through each stage of the online registration process—document preparation, portal navigation, application submission, and verification procedures. This practical demonstration effectively bridged the theory-practice divide, enabling students to directly engage with statutory compliance workflows central to entrepreneurship and accounting practice.

The session encouraged active participation, with structured Q&A segments addressing queries on return filing, input tax credit, and compliance challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises. The incorporation of real-life case studies further enriched the discussion and facilitated applied learning.

This academic intervention significantly contributed to enhancing tax literacy, developing practical skill sets, and strengthening career preparedness among undergraduate commerce students. The Department formally conveyed its appreciation to Mr CA Balamurugan for his pedagogical clarity and domain expertise, and to Ms Deepa Kannan for her valuable support in facilitating the session.
