Our Student Council is an official body with student elected representatives, The council serves as a liaison between students & management, encouraging dialogue and democratic approach to address student needs.

The student council is lead by the Student President & Vice-President respectively. In addition to addressing student needs, the council also performs an advisory role in student clubs & activities, working hand in hand with faculties & the management.

The Red Cross through its junior and youth programmes, plays an important role in channelling and guiding the young energy in the cause of humanitarian action. The following are some glimpses of Youth Red Cross purposes

Informing youth members and others the roles & responsibilities of the Red Cross & encourage them to contribute.

NSS Students

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored flagship for public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year in 1969. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.

Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in schools and colleges through which, students will spread awareness over HIV / AIDS. It envisages to instil charity mind among all the students to extend their able help towards developing healthy life styles, donating blood to all the needy by promotion of Regular voluntary blood donation.

The club function with the following objectives:
1. To create an awareness and to induce the spirit among youth to help and support people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) thereby reducing stigma and discrimination against PLHWAs.
2. To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skills on leadership, negotiation, and team building.
3. To promote voluntary blood donation among youth.

Citizen Consumer Club is one of a kind, it creates awareness about consumer rights & obligations of companies to meet societal expectations on quality and safety. Join us to embark on a journey of creating & gaining awareness on this unique & much needed topic.

Bharatanatyam Performance

We are the highlight of any college function. Be it traditional dances like Bharatanatyam or Western Classical or Kollywood beats we bring life to the event and believe in spreading joy with some amazing moves!

Over numerous practice sessions, while getting fit, we also get to bond with one another! Join us to find more.

Three core tenets of artistic expressions are Iyal, Isai, Nadagam, and music sits right in the middle of it. We learn to jam, train on vocals, play a new instrument, join the choir and much more. Our college also teaches us to play traditional instruments like Veena, apart from the usual guitar & keyboard. Join us & sing your heart out.

Villupaatu is also known as Villadichampattu. It is an ancient form of musical storytelling in India in which narration is interspersed with music. It is an art of southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and North-East Sri Lanka. In this club, we encourage students to perform villupaatu for various events. 

Picking on from Music club’s description, Nadagam or drama is an age old medium of storytelling. Drama brings out your narrative skills, artistic talents and is truly a way to win people’s minds and hearts. Many great actors, politicians and activists have used this powerful medium to convey their ideas. Join us & tap in to your hidden talents.

For students who want to spread awareness on the importance of co-existence & sustainability of our nature & its resources. If you have a green thumb and love the outdoors, join our club for a greener tomorrow.

Personal Grooming Club focuses on growing holistically. Transitioning from school children to college students, more often than not, we lookup to our seniors & friends and it influences how we groom ourselves. Grooming is not just about appearance and fashion trends, it encompasses many areas, body language, choice of words, hygiene, dressing with dignity and carrying ourself in a respectable way. We discuss & share our perspectives on these topics, to best fit in the world around us without compromising on who we are. Join us & know more.

Wellness Club focuses on physical, emotional & mental wellness aspects of our students. Yoga classes conducted by external resources & internal trained students, Martial arts classes, etc are a few examples of activities that happen in the club. Join us to know more.

We are part of all events that happen in our college, be it a grand anniversary function or a small club event, we get a piece of the action. We liase, organize, setup & communicate with people, both within and outside the college to ensure success of the event. Apart from the backstage work, we participate in budgeting the event costs, we also document the events & aid the media team in publicising the event. At Speech & Debate Club, students participate in intellectual discussions on current trends and also hone their communication skills. If you have a penchant for public speaking or want to get rid of the fear of it, join us for a fun filled ride!

Pen is mightier than sword, they say. Creative Writing Club is all about expressing yourself, sharing your narrative not just with the best possible set of words, but also with a personal style & touch that moves the reader. Join us and bring out the writer in you.

The Science Club was started with an  intention to invite many eminent scientists who would share their experience with the students and motivate them to pursue scientific knowledge. Activities are designed primarily to induce students to undertake interesting/exciting science and technology projects. The purpose of the Science Club is to promote interest, understanding, and knowledge of the scientific world amongst the college students and local community. 

 

Activities of the Standards Club aim at creating awareness of the standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. The College has tied up with the Bureau of Indian Standards which has been providing traceable and tangible benefits to the national economy in a number of ways – providing safe reliable quality goods; minimizing health hazards to consumers; promoting exports and imports substitute; control over proliferation of varieties etc. through standardization, certification and testing.

The purpose of AHTC is to involve the student community in addressing human trafficking so that they may raise awareness of the issue and collaborate with the state and non-governmental organisations. The club will support victims of human trafficking while assisting law enforcement authorities and allied organisations in finding cases. As potential sources of information about human trafficking in their community or region, the club members will also serve as informants for law enforcement organisations.

A dedicated Training and Placement Cell ensures our graduates stay ahead of the competition and are capable to meet market’s skill demands.

Lead by a Placement Officer and student representatives from each department acting as Student Placement Coordinators, the Placement Cell functions around the year, focussed on the below areas,

  • Conducting Placement Training program for students.
  • Inviting leading organizations for Campus Recruitment.
  • Disseminating information, event schedules & organizing a well planned recruitment drive.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell

Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) intends to motivate the students to view entrepreneurship as a desirable career option in the early years after graduation. EDC also aims at capacity building and creation of self-employment opportunities for the CTTEans.

A congenial ecosystem for the evolution of entrepreneurs is established in the campus. EDC provides financial assistance, arranges interaction with successful entrepreneurs and creates opportunities for skill building and capacity enhancement.

  • To educate enterprising students on the essentials of starting a business
  • To provide an exhaustive resource pool to aid potential student entrepreneurs
  • To develop personal attributes and skills that form the basis of entrepreneurial mind set and behaviour

Idea & Innovation Cell

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are in their formative years.

MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses.

EVE Cell

Empowerment | Values | Ethics

The EVE- Empowerment through Values and Ethics Cell takes forward the vision and mission of the college by organizing lectures and events that empower the women students to overcome the challenges of life.

EVE, the Women’s Cell of our college aims at empowering students by creating awareness of their rights and strength as women and thereby helps them in achieving equal participation in the social, cultural and economic arenas of life. The cell takes forward the vision and mission of the college by organizing several guest lectures by distinguished women achievers and also conducts activities to foster unity, confidence and self-reliance among students.

The women’s cell operates with the following purpose:

  • To make students aware of their rights, health & employment opportunities.
  • To help them develop their self-respect & face the world with confidence.
  • To help them enhance their decision making abilities & effectively tackle gender inequalities

Research Cell

Research is an integral part of Higher Education system. Teaching and Research feed each other and travel in parallel lines for effective education. Thus, it is required that research culture is inculcated at the early stage of learning of students. The CTTE Research Cell provides effective support system in establishing Research-intensive units where students can experience Invention/Innovation-centric learning rather than Information-centric learning.

Objectives of the Research Cell

Our Research cell facilitates faculty and students in their research activities, with the following primary objectives:

  • To promote the culture of inter-disciplinary research among faculty and students
  • To inculcate research culture among faculty and students, thereby leading to publishing of papers in referred journals
  • To encourage students to do in-house research project and mini academic projects that contribute to society

Career Guidance Cell

The Career Guidance Cell of the College provides necessary career information to students by organising different career guidance programmes through Industry – Institute Convergence and Expert Interaction Sessions to enable students to explore their career opportunities in a particular sector. Career Guidance cell also provides guidance session on Higher Education such as CA, Fashion Designing, Cosmetology etc. Eminent resource persons from various sectors and esteemed institutions are invited for providing training to prepare students to meet their future challenges in terms of Placement and career challenges.

The Career Guidance Cell caters to the needs of students with the following objectives:

  • To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Job opportunities
  • To enhance their knowledge with which to make an informed choice of careers
  • To organize guidance programmes to explore career opportunities in a particular sector
  • To keep them updated in their relevant field of specialisation
  • To organize guidance sessions about higher education in India and abroad

Life Skills Cell

In day to day life, life skills are very important especially to youngsters. Educating the youth about life skills would enable them to improve their knowledge, develop values and views and make them know when and how to do a task. Building Life skills motivates healthy behaviour and increases self-confidence.

At CTTEWC, We view the need for physical activities from multiple perspectives. Both students and student athletes can engage in sports to accomplish different goals.

With the possibility of sponsorships, A student with interest to pursue sports competitively can do so by participating in zonal/district/state & national level competitions. Other students can learn to engage themselves in sports, and benefit from physical & mental fitness it offers, from being part of a team, relieving stress and imbibing general discipline that becomes second nature to a fitness pursuer.

Ms. Priya Rajan Worshipful Mayor of Greater Chennai Corporation Ms. Priya Rajan is the distinguished alumni of CTTEWC, she is Chennai's youngest Mayor.
CTTE Trust is doubly proud with her achievement as she was a student of our St. Mary’s school and she obtained her undergraduate degree in BCom CS from CTTE College - Batch 2011-2014.

Dr.Sumuki Padmanabhan Head Librarian, Maryland Library, CTTEWC Dr. Sumuki Padmanabhan, is a distinguished alumni of CTTEWC. She shares the unique heritage of being the first batch of women students to graduate from our college.
She played a vital role in modernization of Maryland Library, Dr.Sumuki is a living example of the value, ethics and women empowerment philosophies, which CTTEWC has been inculcating in its students for over 3 decades now.

Dr. Anandhi Sheshasaayee,MCA,M.Phil,Ph.D,PGDET. Head & Associate Professor
Department of Computer Science & Applications
‎Quaid-e-Millath Govt. College for Women
Dr. Anandhi Sheshasaayee is distinguished alumni of CTTEWC, she has a vast experience in successfully managing all aspects of an educational Institution including imparting training to computer science students, With 26 years of service in academia, she currently heads the Post Graduate & Research Department of Computer Science and Applications at Quaid-E-Millath Government College for Women, Chennai.

She has authored 12 books in computer science till date. Currently she serves as Associate Editor, Board Member and Reviewer for many Journal Articles and as Technical Chair for Conferences. She also serves as Subject Expert, Chairperson and Commission Member concerning Computer Science at many Institutions and Universities.

She is the recipient of Outstanding Educator and Scholar award towards Teaching and Research in Computer Science and also the recipient of Dr. Radhakrishnan’s Gold Medal Award for Academic Excellence in Computer Science & Research under Individual Achievements & National Developments.

Dr.I. Manjubala, M.Sc, M.Phil., Ph.D., Professor,
Department of Bio Science, School of Bio Science & Technology,
VIT, Vellore.
Dr. Manjubala is a distinguished alumni of CTTEWC, She's a notable researcher who continues to be an inspiration to our students.

She did her Master's in Physics in 1996 with specialisation in materials science and was awarded with PhD in Biomaterials in 2002. Having selected for post doctoral fellowship at University of Jena, Germany, and later on at Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam, Germany, she continued her research in field of biomaterials and bone biomimetics. In 2006, got promoted as Group leader and continued many projects together with Charite and HZG Berlin.

In 2010, she took up a full Professor position at VIT University, Biomedical Engineering department. During her research career she has been awarded with Young Scientist Award, Bio-material Congress Travel fellowship, Young Investigator award, Young achiever award and more.
