CTTE Students Secure Overall Championship at Inter-Collegiate Cultural Fest

Students of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women secured the Overall Championship Trophy at the Inter-Collegiate Cultural Fest hosted by R.B. Gothi Jain College for Women, following consistent performances across multiple events.

The team was led by Ms Fouziya Begam (III B.Com. CS), Cultural Coordinator.

In Duet Dance, Ms Jaya Preetha and Ms Abiyal Jhansi (III B.Com. General) secured Second Prize. Ms Monika (II B.Sc. Psychology) won First Prize in Adaptune.

The Group Dance team comprising Ms Abiyal Jhansi (III B.Com. General), Ms Ashvitha Sri (II B.Com. CS), Ms Monika and Ms Monica (II B.Sc. Psychology), and Ms Nandhini (I BBA) secured Second Prize.

Ms Bhavani G (II B.Sc. Psychology) received Third Prize in Pot Painting. In individual events, Ms R. Ashvitha Sri (II B.Com. CS) secured Second Prize in Solo Dance, while Ms Shalini (II B.Com. CS) earned Third Prize in Solo Singing.

The students’ performance across events contributed to the overall championship title.

Keerthana K (I B.Com – General) secured third place in the 100 metres.

CTTE maths students shine at inter-collegiate mathematics fest  

Students of B.Sc. Mathematics, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, achieved notable distinction at the inter-collegiate mathematics fest DESAFIO’26, organised by the Department of Mathematics, Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women on 6 February 2026.

Ms. Reshma Begum, a III B.Sc. Mathematics student, secured first place in the Poster Presentation competition. Her presentation demonstrated conceptual clarity, analytical depth, and effective visual articulation of mathematical ideas, reflecting a strong foundation in scholarly inquiry.

Ms. Shahana Fathima, Ms. Dharshini, Ms. Nasreen, and Ms. Thuvija of II B.Sc. Mathematics were awarded second place in the Treasure Hunt competition. Their performance evidenced logical reasoning, strategic problem-solving, and cohesive teamwork in addressing complex mathematical challenges.

Sporting Distinction: CTTE Wins Inter-Collegiate Throwball Title

Students of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women (CTTE) secured first place at the Mother Gnanamma Trophy Inter-Collegiate Throwball Tournament organised by the Department of Physical Education, St Anne’s Arts and Science College on 5 February 2026.

The team comprised Thanuja B (III B.Com. CS), Karthika V (II B.Com. A&F), Boomika D (II B.Com. A&F), Lalitha S (III B.Com. A&F), Vennila A.R (II BBA), Sujitha M (I BCA), Madhumitha M (I B.Com. General), Janani D (I B.Com. General), Mythileeshwari (I B.Com. General), Kowsalya M (II B.Com. CS), Eunice V.F (I B.Com. CS) and Rakshitha B (III BCA).

The tournament saw participation from several city colleges. The CTTE team demonstrated consistent performance, effective coordination and sound tactical discipline throughout the matches to clinch the championship.

CTTE Student Secures First Prize in Student Research Paper Competition at International Tamil Research Conference

Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women is proud to announce that Ms. K. Pooja, a II B.Sc. Mathematics student, has been awarded first prize, along with a cash prize of ₹10,000 and a certificate, on 24 January 2026 at a seminar hall in Anna University, presented by M. Nasar, Minister for Minority Welfare and Overseas Tamils Welfare.

Her research paper was recognised in the College Student Research Paper Competition, conducted during the two-day conference on “தமிழின் தொன்மை – இன்றைய நிலையும் எதிர்கால வாய்ப்புகளும்”, organised by the International Association for Tamil Research (IATR).

Her paper, entitled “பழந்தமிழ் இலக்கிய பண்பாட்டு மரபுகள்: பாலினச் சமத்துவச் சிந்தனைகள்”, examined the literary and cultural traditions of Classical Tamil, emphasising the significance of gender equality thought. The study demonstrates a critical engagement with Tamil literary heritage and its continuing relevance to contemporary social discourse.

Digital Poster-Making Competition on Electoral Awareness at CTTE College

The Art Club of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Electoral Club, organised a Digital Poster-Making Competition on 23 January 2026 on the theme “Your Vote, Your Voice”. The initiative sought to cultivate electoral awareness and responsible citizenship among students by encouraging them to engage creatively with democratic ideals.

The competition provided a student-centred platform for participants to articulate their understanding of democratic values through digital design. Students from diverse disciplines submitted entries that reflected originality, aesthetic sensitivity, and a keen awareness of civic responsibility.

Dr Vimala Rani, Assistant Professor, Department of Languages, served as the resource person for the event and evaluated the entries based on criteria including thematic relevance, creativity, visual coherence, and clarity of message. The prize winners were:

  • First Prize: Bhavani M – I M.Com
  • Second Prize: R. Sharani – III B.Sc. Psychology
  • Third Prize: Eakalaivani Vijayan – III B.Sc. Chemistry

The competition enabled students to demonstrate their artistic and digital competencies while reinforcing the importance of informed electoral participation.

A Strike Toward Success: CTTE Student Secures First Place in International Carrom Championship  

Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women proudly congratulates Ms. HarshaVarthini S, a student of III B.A. English, on her outstanding achievements in carrom.

She secured 1st place in the Above-19 category at the International Carrom Championship, organised by the School Games Sports Development Foundation Goa (SGSDF), India, held in Goa from 27th to 30th December 2025, competing against a total of 32 teams.

Ms. Meenakshi Kannan, a final-year student of the Department of Accounting and Finance, CTTE College for Women, was conferred the esteemed title of “Sangeetha Acharya” by the Swaralaya Academy of Fine Arts, functioning under the wings of the Guruguhalaya Trust on December 28, 2025.

In recognition of Ms. Meenakshi Kannan’s sustained dedication, disciplined practice, and selfless service to Carnatic music. The title acknowledges her distinguished contribution as a Carnatic Music Guru, highlighting her role in preserving, practising, and transmitting classical musical traditions through committed teaching and performance.

Inter-Collegiate AIDS Awareness Dance Competition

CTTE Students secured Third Place at Inter-Collegiate AIDS Awareness Dance Competition  

Ms. Siva Sakthi G, Ms. Harani B, Ms. Mirzana Siddique S, Ms. Thilgavathi C, and Ms. Varshini Sri J students from the Anti-Human Trafficking Club and Department of Accounting & Finance secured Third Place in the Inter-Collegiate AIDS Gana Song Dance Competition organised by the Indian Council of World Organisations (ICWO), held at C. Kandaswami Naidu College for Men on December 23, 2025. The competition witnessed participation from several institutions.

CTTE Students presented a dance performance choreographed to Gana songs developed by ICWO, effectively communicating messages related to AIDS prevention, public health, and social responsibility. The performance effectively integrated expressive movement, rhythm, and visual aids to communicate messages of prevention, awareness, and social responsibility.

She secured the Silver Medal and Second Place in the Triple Jump event at the Intercollegiate Athletics Championship organised by Amity Global Business School, held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, on 13 November 2025. 

Ms Keerthana has previously distinguished herself by winning medals at the State and District Athletic Championships in sprint events.

CTTE Student Wins Prestigious Bharat Ratna Dr M. S. Subbulakshmi Fellowship in Music 2025  

Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women witnessed a moment of distinguished pride as Ms Meenakshi Kannan, a final-year student from the Department of Accounting and Finance, received the Bharat Ratna Dr M. S. Subbulakshmi Fellowship in Music, conferred by Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts & Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai. Remarkably, this is the second time Ms Meenakshi Kannan has been awarded this prestigious fellowship — a rare distinction that highlights her exceptional talent, consistency, and dedication to the art of Carnatic music.  

The fellowship, accompanied by a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, was presented by Hon’ble Mr Justice K. R. Shriram, Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, on 13 September 2025.

The ceremony stood as a testament to the enduring legacy of Indian classical music and the vital role of youth in preserving and promoting its rich traditions.

This recognition exemplifies Ms Meenakshi Kannan’s commitment, discipline, and passion for music. Her achievement reflects the harmonious balance between academic excellence and artistic pursuit, inspiring her peers to integrate cultural refinement with intellectual growth.

A Remarkable Achievement: CTTE PG Commerce Students Publish Dare to Dream: Startup Stories

The Postgraduate Department of Commerce of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women proudly records the outstanding achievement of the II M.Com students (2025–26 batch) — Ms Aafiyah Afsheen and Ms Sabana Banu — who have successfully compiled and published a book titled Dare to Dream: Startup Stories.

This student-led publication is a creative and scholarly endeavour that captures the essence of entrepreneurship through real-life narratives of Indian start-up ventures. The initiative exemplifies CTTE’s commitment to experiential and value-based learning, integrating academic inquiry with creativity and social responsibility. More than a collection of start-up journeys, the book serves as an educational resource designed to inspire and nurture entrepreneurial spirit among students.

The authors expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all who guided and supported them throughout the process. They extended special thanks to the Almighty for strength and perseverance, to the College Management and Faculty Members for their encouragement, and to the Principal, Dr S. Sridevi, for her constant motivation and institutional support. They also conveyed deep appreciation to Dr P. Malarvizhi, Assistant Professor of Commerce, for her mentorship, insightful feedback, and unwavering guidance.

The students further acknowledged the encouragement received from their peers and classmates, whose cooperation and enthusiasm sustained their creative energy. The book is dedicated to all aspiring entrepreneurs and students who dare to dream and strive to turn their ideas into reality.

CTTE Students Secure Silver Medals in Singles and Doubles at District-Level Chief Minister’s Trophy Carrom Tournament  Students of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women participated in the District-Level Carrom Tournament conducted as part of the Chief Minister’s Trophy (CM Trophy) 2025. The event featured over 40 participants and was conducted in a multi-round elimination format designed to assess consistency, precision, and strategic gameplay.
 
Ms. S. Harshavarthini, pursuing III BA English, secured Silver Medals in both Singles and Doubles categories, reflecting commendable perseverance and refined technical skill. In the Singles tournament held on 30.08.2025, she advanced through six successive rounds, each involving opponents with increasing proficiency. Her performance in the final match, where she was matched against a recognised World Cup-level athlete, was particularly noteworthy. She concluded the event as Runner-Up, earning the Silver Medal.

In the Doubles category, held on 01.09.2025, Ms. Harshavarthini teamed up with Ms. S. Keerthana, a student of III B.Com (A&F). The duo advanced through a series of competitive rounds against 35+ participants. Their synergy, tactical coordination, and focus enabled them to qualify for the finals. Despite a challenging match against a team featuring a national-level player, they secured Second Place, adding another Silver Medal to the College’s.

These achievements underscore the students’ sporting commitment and reflect the institution’s broader emphasis on holistic education. The College acknowledges the exemplary representation of CTTE values through disciplined participation in state-recognised sporting events.

A Mark of Excellence: CTTE Student Wins Bronze and Silver in Athletics  

Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women proudly congratulates Ms K. Keerthana, a student of I B.Com General (A), for her remarkable achievements in athletics.

She secured the Bronze Medal in the 100 metres (Girls U–18) category at the 37th Tamil Nadu State Junior Athletic Championship, organised by the Madurai District Athletic Association under the Tamil Nadu Athletic Association, held at the Race Course Stadium, Madurai, from 8th to 10th August 2025.

She exhibited commendable athletic prowess by winning the Silver Medal in the 100 metres event at the 55th Chennai District Junior Athletic Meet, organised by the Chennai District Athletic Association at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, on 30th and 31st August 2025.

Her dedication, discipline, and consistent performance bring great honour to the institution and serve as an inspiration for her peers to pursue excellence both in academics and sports.

Innovation and Teamwork Lead CTTE BCA Students to Success at Chaitanya 2025

Students of III BCA, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, participated in Chaitanya 2025, the inter-collegiate fest organized by Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari College for Women, on 20th August 2025.

In the PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) competition, which saw participation from 19 colleges, Ms. Deena S and Ms. Tahaimeena S of III BCA secured the First Prize. Their presentation was recognized for its structured argumentation, conceptual clarity, and confident delivery—demonstrating a seamless blend of technical insight and professional communication.

In the Flash Frames digital design competition, Ms. Deena S and Ms. Tahaimeena S also earned the Second Prize, acknowledged for their innovative visual aesthetics and effective design execution.

Ms. Kanimozhi Bharathy M and Ms. Harmitha V secured the Third Prize in Flash Frames, underscoring the department’s depth in creative digital expression.

In the Reel Techies event, which evaluated participants’ ability to conceptualize and produce compelling short-form digital content, the team comprising Ms. Deena S, Ms. Tahaimeena S, Ms. Mahenoor S, Ms. Anees Muhsina M, Ms. Kanimozhi Bharathy M, and Ms. Harmitha V won the Third Prize. Their entry was lauded for its narrative coherence, technical precision, and collaborative execution—qualities the competition celebrates through its emphasis on creativity, innovation, and teamwork.

Soundharyaa and Ms. Reshma Begum, final-year undergraduate students, who secured top honours at Chaitanya 2025–2026, an inter-collegiate academic and cultural festival hosted by the Department of Mathematics, Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari Arts & Science College for Women, Chennai, on 19 August 2025.

  • Ms. J. Soundharyaa was awarded the III Prize in the Math Still Model category. Her model demonstrated conceptual clarity, technical precision, and an ability to visually communicate mathematical ideas with elegance.
  • Ms. Reshma Begum earned accolades in two categories: the I Prize in Math Doodle Art, where she creatively transformed abstract concepts into visually compelling designs; and the II Prize in Math Still Model, where her work reflected originality, mathematical rigour, and a strong sense of design.

Ms. Kanimozhi Bharathy and Ms. Harmitha of III BCA, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, achieved a remarkable feat by securing Third Place in the prestigious Crypto Quest competition, a flagship segment of the Inter-Collegiate Tech Fest under the OLAP 2025–2026 initiative, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women (Autonomous), Chennai, on 2nd August 2025. Renowned for its challenging format, Crypto Quest tested participants’ skills in cryptography, problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and lateral thinking through multiple intense stages that required decoding complex ciphers, identifying encryption patterns, and applying algorithmic logic under strict time constraints. Demonstrating technical expertise, strategic thinking, and teamwork, the duo’s achievement stands as a testament to their dedication and the college’s commitment to fostering excellence in both academic and skill-based learning.
