RBI Staff College Conducts Financial Literacy Awareness Programme at CTTE College
The Department of Corporate Secretaryship organised a Financial Literacy Awareness Programme on 24 July 2026 in association with the Reserve Bank Staff College (RBSC), Chennai, as part of the 138th Induction Programme for Grade ‘B’ (Direct Recruit) Officers. The programme was conducted from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and witnessed the participation of approximately 90 Reserve Bank of India officers and 310 students from the College.
The programme aimed to enhance financial awareness among students by promoting sound financial decision-making and improving their understanding of banking concepts. A key highlight of the event was the Financial Literacy Quiz, which encouraged active student participation and fostered a spirit of healthy competition. Winners were recognised with prizes, while complimentary gifts were presented to other participants in appreciation of their enthusiastic involvement.
An engaging and thought-provoking financial literacy skit, performed by the trainers from the Reserve Bank Staff College, effectively communicated key messages on responsible financial practices, prudent money management, and banking awareness. The performance was widely appreciated for its creativity, relevance, and ability to simplify complex financial concepts in an accessible manner.
The interactive sessions provided students with valuable insights into financial planning, responsible banking practices, digital financial security, and informed financial decision-making. The programme significantly strengthened participants’ financial literacy and encouraged them to adopt responsible financial behaviours in their personal and professional lives.
The programme was highly informative, interactive, and impactful, successfully achieving its objective of fostering financial awareness and empowering students with essential life skills.
The Environmental Awareness Workshop was organised on 2 July 2026 by the Citizen Consumer and Civic Action Group (CAG) in collaboration with the PG Department of Social Work and the Eco Club of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women. The session was facilitated by Mr Mohan, Social Worker and Legal Literacy Trainer, who delivered an informative presentation on environmental conservation, environmental legislation, and the civic responsibilities of citizens in safeguarding the environment.
During the session, the resource person provided a comprehensive overview of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, outlining its objectives, salient provisions, and the legal rights and responsibilities of citizens in addressing environmental concerns. The discussion emphasised the importance of public participation in environmental protection and highlighted the role of legislative frameworks in promoting sustainable development.
Participants were introduced to the statutory authorities responsible for addressing environmental grievances, including the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Greater Chennai Corporation, local municipal authorities, and the Police Department, depending on the nature of the environmental violation. The session enhanced students’ understanding of the institutional mechanisms available for environmental governance and grievance redressal.
The workshop also explained the appropriate procedures for reporting environmental issues, emphasising the importance of collecting supporting evidence, such as photographs, videos, location details, and the date and time of the incident, before submitting complaints through the appropriate online or offline grievance redressal mechanisms. The programme strengthened participants’ awareness of environmental laws, encouraged responsible civic engagement, and inspired them to contribute actively towards environmental protection and sustainable community development.
Singappen Padai Conducts Awareness Programme for Students
Chennai, June 18
Members of the Singappen Padai, an initiative of the Tamil Nadu Government aimed at promoting the safety and welfare of women, conducted an awareness programme for students at Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women on Thursday.
During the programme, the resource persons explained the objectives behind the formation of Singappen Padai, its activities, and its role in ensuring the safety and security of women. Students were also sensitised to various legal provisions available for the protection of women and children, with special emphasis on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The speakers highlighted the importance of legal awareness and informed students about the support mechanisms available during emergency situations. They also explained how women can seek assistance from Singappen Padai and avail themselves of the various protection services provided by the government.
The interactive session helped enhance awareness among students regarding personal safety, legal rights, and available support systems. Participants appreciated the informative programme, which fostered greater confidence and preparedness among young women.
