The Postgraduate Department of English, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, organised an Interdisciplinary Faculty Development Programme titled ‘Cyber Shield: Empowering the Educators’ on 27 July 2026. The programme aimed to enhance faculty members’ understanding of contemporary cybersecurity challenges and to equip them with appropriate strategies for protecting personal, professional, and institutional digital information.
The programme featured Mr Santosh Chaluvadi, CEO, Cyber Security Trainer and Mentor, Supraja Technologies, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, as the resource person. Heads of various departments and faculty members from across the institution participated in the programme.
The session examined the increasing relevance of cybersecurity in educational institutions and addressed common cyber threats, including phishing, malware, ransomware, identity theft, password vulnerabilities, online fraud, and data breaches. Through practical demonstrations, case-based illustrations, and interactive discussions, the resource person explained how digital vulnerabilities may be exploited and outlined measures for mitigating associated risks.
Particular emphasis was placed on the adoption of secure digital practices, including the use of strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, responsible handling of digital information, identification of fraudulent communications, and regular maintenance of cyber hygiene. The session also addressed safe practices in the use of email, cloud-based services, social media, and digital teaching and learning platforms.
The programme provided opportunities for faculty members to engage in discussions, raise queries, and share experiences relating to cybersecurity in academic and administrative contexts. The interaction enabled participants to relate cybersecurity principles to their professional responsibilities and digital practices.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks to the resource person for his contribution to enhancing cybersecurity awareness among the faculty. The programme strengthened participants’ understanding of prevalent cyber risks and encouraged the adoption of responsible and secure digital practices. It also highlighted the role of educators in promoting cybersecurity awareness among students and contributing to a safer and more resilient digital learning environment.
