E-Quiz on National Voters' DayDate: January 25,2021

Youth Red Cross (YRC) conducted an e-quiz competition among the YRC Members on the occasion of ‘National Voter’s Day’ on 25th January 2021. The competition aimed at creating awareness among the students on voting rights. The questions of the quiz were carefully curated on Kahoot and the link was shared among the participants. The top three scorers were given certificates of appreciation.

World Consumer Rights DayDate: January 23,2021

The Citizen Consumer Club (CCC) of C.T.T.E College for Women in association with the Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, and FEDCOT India organised a webinar on ‘Consumer Rights’ on January 23, 2021 from 3 – 4.00 p.m via Google Meet. The session began with a prayer song followed by the welcome address by Dr.J.Valli, Faculty Coordinator, CCC. Dr.S.Sridevi Principal, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, addressed the gathering and gave an informative presentation on the history of consumerism. She further encouraged the students to research more about consumer rights and laws. Mrs. Nagammal, Deputy Commissioner City (North), Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, Government of Tamilnadu, and Mrs. Ragini Ravichandran From CS & Cp Dept, were the guest speakers for the event. On account of NCRD, EssayWriting and Poster Painting competitions were also conducted. More than 50 Students from the college actively participated in the competitions. The winners were given certificates of appreciation. The guest speakers Mrs. Nagammal and Mrs. Ragini Ravichandran made a special mention of the efforts taken by the department in celebrating National Consumer Rights Day.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION COMPETITION ON HUMAN RIGHTS DAYDate: December 10,2020

Youth Red Cross (YRC) celebrated ‘Human Rights Day’ on 10th December 2020 to create awareness on Human Rights among the students. It connects with the same, a PowerPoint Presentation competition among the YRC members on the topic ‘Human Rights’ was conducted. The guest speaker of the session was Ms.T.Krithika, BL, ML, Assistant Professor, Ambedkar Law University, Taramani. The session started with the prayer song by Raja kaleeshwari and the welcome Address by Lavanya of II B.com general. In the session, Ms.T.Krithika gave a clear introduction to the Human Rights post which the participants presented their slides within the 10 minutes allotted per participant. The winners were announced by the guest speaker at the end of the programme. Ms.B. Lavanya delivered the vote of thanks and the session successfully ended with the e-quiz on ‘Human Rights’.

As a part of World Kindness Day which falls on the 13th of November every year, YRC volunteers of C.T.T.E College for Women shared their kindness by providing small gifts as tokens of goodwill to the people in and around their neighborhood and to the needy people.

National Legal Services Day

National Legal Services DayDate: November 09,2020

YRC celebrated “National Legal Services day” to create an awareness of the various provisions under the legal services authorities act and the right of the litigants among the students. It also introduced the ‘YOUTH PARLIAMENT’ and conducted its first debate session among the YRC members with the Motion ‘FREE SPEECH IN SOCIAL MEDIA’. The Speaker of the house was Ms. Ashwini .U.R Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology at CTTE College for women, Psychologist and Co-founder of Soul Space Counselling services. There were two Parties in the house with six members each to argue ‘For’ and ‘Against’ the Motion. The ‘For’ party was named Team ‘INFLUENCERS’ and the ‘Against’ party was named Team ‘RESTRICTERS’. Team INFLUENCERS argued that freedom of speech is very important in Social media platforms to impact Society in a positive way, to give the public an opportunity to voice out for justice by way of posting comments, sharing, creating hashtags, tweeting, etc. While team RESTRICTERS argued that restrictions should be made for expressing opinions in social media since it has a great power to impact society in a more negative than positive way. Cyber bullying, fake accounts, false news, hate comments, etc, can ruin an individual’s life. The speaker of the house expressed that social media platforms have become the new public square and it is very important to have both freedom and restrictions to keep the society going and gave the judgment neutral.

A Webinar on ‘World Diabetes Day’ was organised on 08.11.2020 from 11 a.m to 12 p.m via Google Meet. Dr. D. Prasanna, Consultant Physician, Diabetologist and Microbiologist was the resource person for the session. The doctor provided a thorough overview of Diabetes, its symptoms, Gestational Diabetes, PCOS, and also listed proven measures to overcome them. The webinar thus proved to be highly useful for the participants.

Webinar on National Unity DayDate: October 31,2020

On October 31, 2020, the Young Ribbon Club (YRC) and the National Service Scheme(NSS) organised a webinar via Google Meet in connection with the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), an initiative by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The NSS and YRC volunteers and Programme Officers took a pledge by 5.30 p.m to reinforce our commitment to preserve and strengthen our unity. 96 volunteers took this pledge to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also to make possible the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and ensure our contribution to the internal security of our Nation . As a part of this event, to create awareness on COVID – 19, Dr. S. Rajeswari (Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Preventive Oncologist, Colposcopy Specialist) shared her views and experience as a doctor during the pandemic situation and urged the audience to take all the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19. Volunteers raised queries on how to increase the haemoglobin level and immunity level and cleared their doubts on plasma donation. The webinar ended with a note of thanks to all the doctors, health care workers and sanitation workers for their selfless service.

The Young Ribbon Club and the National Service Scheme jointly celebrated the birthday of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam which is observed as the “World Students’ Day” on 15th October 2020. The programme was conducted via Google Meet. 82 students participated in the programme. The following were the competitions for the day:

Webinar on World Standard DayDate: October 14,2020

Citizen Consumer Club (CCC) of C.T.T.E College for Women in Collaboration with Fedcot India organised a webinar on ‘World Standard Day’ on 14th October 2020 through Zoom Meet. Mr. Chozha Naachhiar Rajasekar, President, The Tamil Chamber of Commerce, was the guest speaker of the event. 95 students participated in the session. Dr.J.Valli, faculty coordinator welcomed the gathering. In the highly useful session, Mr. Rajasekar talked about the importance of the standard, quality level and grade of various goods. Citizen Consumer Club student coordinator Ms. Shalini of III B. Com G proposed the vote of thanks.

YRC and NSS organised an E- quiz on 13.10.2020 to commemorate the International Natural Disaster Reduction Day that falls on the same day. 422 Students participated in the E-quiz.
